Obama makes history

WASHINGTON (CNN) - In what he called a "defining moment for our nation," Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday became the first African-American to head the ticket of a major political party.

Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday told supporters he will be the Democratic nominee.
Obama's steady stream of superdelegate endorsements, combined with the delegates he received from Tuesday's primaries, put him past the 2,118 threshold, CNN projects.

"Tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another -- a journey that will bring a new and better day to America," he said.

"Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States."

Obama's rally was at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota -- the same arena which will house the 2008 Republican National Convention in September.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Tomorrow is going to be a big day in the USA as Clinton and Obama campaign to win the states of Carolina and Indiana. I guess you can call it the "tiebreaker" to end the historic fight.

This election campaign is really a memorable one. Four years ago I would have voted for Hilary Clinton, then comes Barack Obama sweeping me off my feet. Now who do I want to win both states and move forward BARACK OBAMA.
When I was studying history I never envisaged that this day would come... Good luck Senator Obama!

Shocking fire

I was shocked when I looked out this morning and saw a major fire, with billowing black smoke in the distance.

Turns out that it was some abandoned/discarded PVC pipe at Graeme Hall that was burning. Residences and schools had to be evacuated from that area.
Fortunately, the wind was blowing the smoke in a south westerly direction so it did not bother me.
I think that we would have had about three fatalities in the last month due to fire.
